So you think you know the matrix?

This is for you if you have been ready to change your whole frame of reference to the world for quite some time, but didn’t know exactly how to execute the first of many steps. You may have spent a few decades, as I did, seeking out ‘an exit’ and getting advice from various spiritual or commercial sources, to no avail. Time after time, you retreated or turned inward again, only to repeat the same patterns of reaching certain limits of stagnation, and perhaps coming to the same conclusion this time shall be different. Perhaps.

What being different means to society.

There is a certain analogy of crabs in a bucket. They will usually stay calm and docile, not instigating too much conflict amongst themselves, when confined to the knowing and seeming of being in their bucket. However, when one may vary from the pattern of behavior, and attempt to climb up on top of the others to reach the rim and perhaps escape the environment they know, the other crabs tend to attack, making a great effort to diligently retrieve the outlier and pull him or her back down into confinement and comfort. The irony of this psychology should not be lost on us. I may add, that the compliant crabs gain nothing from preventing the variety of experience (albeit escape!) of the lone community member (captive!), except to perhaps prevent oneself from one day discovering they are alone.

Contrarian Cohesion.

This is the compromise-free act of balancing one foot in each world without imposing your ways on anybody else, never explaining, never complaining, and enjoying the freedom of the life you have chosen. We do not leave society or the people of the matrix, but we do learn to live without depending upon them, or demanding they depend on our psychological structures. It’s a possible win-win scenario if they choose to heed the example you set - but this is not the purpose or a requirement. Unconditional love dictates that we do not expect any person to change, with whom we engage in a relationship, willingly or by family ties that bind us.

Managing Money.

Do it, or it will manage you. The biggest differences you will experience in this regard is the emotional relationship to money, and the impulsive and addictive tendencies that govern your behaviors around money. No financial advisor will be able to help you with these, believe me. Living within your means means shifting the definitions of ‘living’ and ‘means’, and these may enter a dynamic and creative state of flux for a time. There are objective ways to optimize the inflow-outflow, balance sheet, investments, taxes, and projection-planning for your financial affairs, and together we will learn how to tailor these structures and definitions with you, in your new mindset.

This is a complex set of learnings as particular and diverse as the hundreds of nation states on earth. However, it may be no more difficult to learn about the structures, limitations, and benefits of operating inside unconventional borders, as it would be to actually properly understand your own previous country of nationality or residence. Getting the research in early and seeking the professional advice you will require, as well as hiring the right practitioners on an ongoing service basis is essential for making your transit smooth overall. You may also be shocked and surprised to discover the incentives and tax rates offered to entrepreneurs and freelancers in various countries, including generous visa configurations for immigrants and travelers who wish to engage in commerce remotely or provide services to native residents. The world is open for business.
